Canadian Greenhouses
The Canadian growing facility is located in Leamington Ontario which shares the 42nd parallel with Rome & Northern California giving it the perfect growing climate. What began years ago as only a few greenhouses, has grown into over 950 acres of vegetables and flowers under cover - that's a lot!
Here, state of the art large galvanized steel frame houses are covered with polycarbonate sheathing. This material selectively filters the light spectrum, allowing more "healthy" light to reach the roses while blocking what is not beneficial. In addition to the polycarbonate covering, we use high-pressure sodium lamps because relying on Mother Nature alone to provide enough light is a big gamble, especially in the dark winter months of December, January and February. Having the ability to control the amount of light the rose crop receives dramatically improves production and quality.
